Direct answers to the most common questions about booking Pablo Antonio y La Firma, the most recognized tropical Latin band in the DMV, for your next event.

What sets Pablo Antonio y La Firma apart?

With an active career since 1999, performances at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, the Historic Lincoln Theatre and the Grand Hyatt Washington, plus the Héroe Latino Award (2014) and Best Latin Band of the Year, DCBX Awards (2017 and 2018), Pablo Antonio y La Firma is the most recognized and longest-established tropical Latin band in the Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia area.

What types of events have you performed at?

We’ve performed at a wide range of events, including weddings, quinceañeras, festivals, fairs, corporate events, private celebrations, and functions organized by federal, state and local agencies throughout the Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia region. Some of our standout performances include festivals like Fiesta DC and the Calle Ocho Festival in Miami, the Arlington County Fair, and notable venues like the Grand Hyatt Washington.

How many musicians perform?

We perform as a full live band — vocalists, horn section, percussion, bass and keyboards — with no backing tracks and no DJ.

What genres do you play?

We specialize in tropical Latin music — merengue, cumbia, salsa and more. Depending on the mood, energy and audience, we may also introduce other musical elements to keep the party moving, always within our tropical Latin style.

What areas do you serve?

Pablo Antonio y La Firma regularly performs throughout Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia.

Do you travel outside the DMV or internationally?

Yes, we travel nationally and internationally as long as our fees and travel expenses are covered. For international performances, the client is responsible for researching and handling any work permit or visa required by the destination country — requirements vary widely by country. We recommend starting this process as early as possible.

How far in advance should I book?

We recommend booking at least 3 months in advance — the more time, the better. In some cases, depending on availability, we can confirm an event with as little as one or two weeks’ notice. It’s always worth asking.

How does pricing work?

Our rates vary based on event length, location and the specific needs of each celebration. Contact us for a personalized quote.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept cash, check, Zelle, Venmo, CashApp, credit card and cryptocurrency. Some payment methods may carry an added fee. Specific requirements for each payment method, including check deadlines, are outlined in the contract.

How does the booking process work?

We generally handle the entire process online. Once you agree to the terms, we prepare the contract and email it to you as a PDF. You just sign it, fill in your information (address, phone number and email) and send it back. If you’d prefer to meet in person to go over details or sign the contract, we’re happy to arrange that — though most clients prefer doing everything online for its speed and convenience. In some cases, especially for a venue we haven’t performed at before, an in-person visit may be needed to understand the venue’s logistics before providing a final quote.

What’s your cancellation or rescheduling policy?

Our cancellation policy depends on how much advance notice is given before the event — the more notice, the more flexibility. Cancellations are not permitted within 29 days of the event, except in the case of a verifiable severe weather event or natural emergency (such as a snowstorm, hurricane, or other life-threatening condition), in which case the client may reschedule with no penalty. All specific terms and amounts are detailed in the contract.

What happens if there’s bad weather on the day of the event?

If an outdoor event is affected by a verifiable severe weather condition that puts safety at risk, the client has the option to reschedule the date with no penalty, under the same terms as the original contract. We recommend coordinating any changes as far in advance as possible.

Why choose a live band over a DJ?

A live band brings energy, interaction and a connection with the audience that a DJ cannot replicate. Our musicians engage directly with guests, creating an authentic, unforgettable experience from the very first song.

Are you bilingual?

Yes, our team is bilingual — we communicate with clients and guests in both English and Spanish throughout the planning process and on the day of the event.

Do you carry liability insurance?

Yes, we can provide a certificate of liability insurance upon request, at an added cost — many venues require this as part of their booking conditions.

Can we choose the songs, or do you select the repertoire?

Clients typically let us select the music from our extensive repertoire. However, you’re welcome to indicate a dominant genre you’d prefer — merengue, salsa or cumbia — or let us create a balanced mix of all three. We can also accommodate specific song requests in Spanish within our tropical Latin style (up to a maximum of 6), subject to an added cost, as it requires rehearsal time and chart preparation. The more advance notice we have, the more flexibility we can offer.

Can guests request songs during the event?

Our repertoire is prepared in advance to ensure the best quality at every performance. For this reason, we generally don’t take spontaneous requests during the event, since they may not be rehearsed by the full band. If you have specific songs in mind, we recommend including them in your request list ahead of the event.

What does the venue need to provide?

A stage or performance area of approximately 16′ x 20′, a minimum of 3-4 standard 120V power outlets across the stage, and clear access for load-in and load-out. Full technical details are available in our stage plot / technical rider upon request.

What if the venue doesn’t have access to electricity?

The client is responsible for providing access to electricity at the event venue, including renting a generator if necessary. Our team does not operate generators. We recommend confirming this detail with the venue in advance.

Do you bring your own sound system?

Yes, we can provide our own professional sound system, or the client/venue can hire their own sound provider. Bringing our own system carries an added cost, as it requires setup time, breakdown time and additional staff — but it’s available if you prefer it.

Do you provide lighting, screens or full production services?

Pablo Antonio y La Firma is a live music ensemble — not a full production company. For lighting and visual elements, we recommend coordinating with your venue or hiring a dedicated production company alongside us.

What does a typical performance include?

Our performances consist of a maximum of 3 sets of 50 minutes each, with breaks in between. We do not play continuously for the entire contracted time.

Can you play longer than the time agreed upon in the contract?

Yes, if requested by the client, we can offer one additional 45-minute set beyond the contracted end time, for an added cost of $1,000. This additional set must be requested by the client — we never add it or charge for it on our own initiative. A maximum of one additional set is available per event, and the full rate applies regardless of whether the time used is less than 45 minutes.

What happens during breaks?

During breaks, the client can hire a DJ or use their own playlist. If our band is providing the sound system, the client can connect their device to play music during those moments.

Can the band serve as master of ceremonies?

Yes. The band can serve as master of ceremonies during your event — announcing special moments like the first dance, the toast or the grand entrance — eliminating the need to hire a separate MC.

Do you need to be provided with food during the event?

We don’t require full meals — we understand every celebration has its own budget and prefer to keep that flexibility for our clients. We do ask to be provided with water, soft drinks and a light snack during the event. Full meals or alcohol are at the client’s discretion and always appreciated, but never required.

Do you perform at multicultural or non-Latino events?

Absolutely. When you book Pablo Antonio y La Firma, you’re booking authentic tropical Latin music — our entire repertoire is sung in Spanish. We’ve performed at events across many different cultures, and it’s important to know the musical experience will be entirely in Spanish and rooted in Latin culture, which is part of what makes it special.

Are your performances family-friendly?

Yes, all of our performances are family-friendly. Our show is designed for the whole family to enjoy — from the youngest guests to grandparents — with no inappropriate content, innuendo or offensive language. The fun is for everyone.
