Jose Manuel Saavedra — Lead Vocalist
Jose Manuel Saavedra is one of the lead vocalists of Pablo Antonio y La Firma, the tropical Latin band from Washington DC performing since 1999. Originally from Peru and based in Charles Town, West Virginia, Jose Manuel has had music in his blood since childhood. His father worked in music for many years, and as a young child he was already picking up his toy guitar and microphone to sing at every family gathering. That early spark grew into a passionate and accomplished artistic career.
Musical Training
Jose Manuel began his formal musical journey in school, where he took guitar lessons. In high school he shifted his focus to vocal training, performing in acapella groups, Broadway shows, plays, and state and district competitions. That broad vocal foundation — spanning musical theater to tropical Latin music — is what makes him a complete and versatile performer within Pablo Antonio y La Firma.
Musical Background
Throughout his career Jose Manuel has had the opportunity to sing backup for internationally recognized artists including Jerry Rivera, Ray Sepúlveda, David Pavón, Viti Ruiz and Maelo Ruiz. He has also worked alongside well-known DMV ensembles including Nfuzion, Hermanos Galván, Peruvian Masters, Sector L, and many others. That experience alongside major names in salsa and tropical Latin music has given him a vocal and stage maturity that sets him apart.
With Pablo Antonio y La Firma
Jose Manuel joined Pablo Antonio y La Firma between 2016 and 2017 and has been a key voice in the band’s sound ever since. What he enjoys most about performing with the band is the joy they are able to share with people through the music they play and sing. His fun fact says it all: singing and playing soccer are two things he simply cannot give up for anything in the world.
